This is the second time we booked our stay in the desert with Bobo. We started with 3 days of trekking in the desert with Yayha and our “chef” Youssef (meals in the middle of the desert worthy of a great restaurant). Serenity, calm, relaxation and beautiful landscapes. After our trek we continued with our exploration of the magnificent Sahara desert via 4X4. Each location and accommodation was chosen to perfection by Bobo. Thanks again to everyone, we will be back AGAIN for sure!
We really enjoyed our vacation in Morocco. Everything started in Marrakech, from there we left for the Ouzoud waterfalls which were fantastic! The 4×4 ride through the mountains was filled with excitement, usually over narrow dirt roads with beautiful views and small Berber villages (a tip: bring some sweets for Berber kids). We stayed in the Dades and Todra Valley and then headed to the desert. What I remember most about the desert is the silence and the endless starry sky – beautiful! After the desert we went to Taroudant where we stayed in a beautiful riad with swimming pool with a super friendly hostess, from there to the sea (Essaouira) and back to Marrakech. The food was abundant and we always slept in nicely decorated guesthouses and riads. The customized tour was super, in short – it was worth it, highly recommended!
For many years I saw ads and movies where people walked on the edge of a high dune in the Sahara Desert and wondered what it would feel like to be in such a magical place… So I decided to do my research and fulfill my dream of walking on a high dune myself and voilà: I found the Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp. I couldn‘t have chosen better, not in a trillion years! From the moment my driver Mohammed left civilisation behind in M‘Hamid, I was transported into a world of such beauty that it took my breath away… After driving on unmarked sand roads for a while, I arrived at the Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp, where the Camp manager Bobo welcomed me with such grace and hospitality that I instantly felt at home. Bobo is an extraordinary human being and I feel honoured to have met him. He‘s got the biggest heart ever! The luxury tent was very comfortable and considering that it was in the middle of nowhere, extremely well equipped and cozy. Of course, it would be silly of anyone to expect the same conditions as in a 5 star hotel or resort in a desert. But Erg Chigaga is 5 star PLUS considering it’s in the middle of the desert. The Berber people working in the Camp are simply wonderful and if they could read your every desire in your mind they‘d do their utmost to make it come through…
I also miss the food… So delicious and healthy!
The hundreds of candles lit at night around the Camp were almost mirroring the stars above: astonishingly beautiful!
As a businessman, I recommend the peace & quiet of Erg Chigaga to anyone in need to recharge, reflect or simply forget time exists and just let go… I know it helped me find new energy and focus.
As someone who has traveled to almost every country in the world, I can only say this: if you miss out on Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp, you‘ll never know what heaven could possibly look like…
We are SO glad that we chose the desert camp as part of our Morocco trip. A bumpy and lengthy off road journey to get in and out of the desert but well worth the trip. An experience we will never forget. Beautiful tents, very friendly welcoming staff, free drinks and snacks and the most delicious evening meal shared on a large table with the other guests. Such an idyllic spot in the middle of the desert, and an unforgettable camel ride to see the sun set, with a glass of wine in hand.
Thank you Erg Chigaga, Bobo and the team.
Everyone involved in this organization works hard to provide the most wonderful, warm, friendly, captivating experience. We were met in Fes by our intrepid guide Jamal who invited us to experience the “wild” road to Erg Chigaga. We traveled through Todra Gorge and the Draa Valley. He keyed into my desire to photograph along the way and was happy to stop to capture things that interested us. The camp invites you in like family with long tables to share meals and stories. Climb the tallest dune at sunset, race boards to the bottom, and relax in the beautiful uncompromising desert. Take time to not rush through the desert and in getting to and from either Fes or Marrakesh. The journey will open your eyes to this fabulous country. Thank you Jamal, Bobo, Bacchir and Nick. Wow!
