About Sahara Touring

Private journeys through Morocco, shaped by deep local knowledge, Berber hospitality, and a genuine connection to the land.

Born and raised in the Sahara Desert, Bobo has been guiding travelers through Morocco for over 10 years.

Meet Bobo

Born and raised in Erg Smar in the Sahara Desert, Mohamed “Bobo” Boulfrifi comes from a Berber nomadic background deeply rooted in the rhythms, traditions, and realities of desert life.

For generations, the Sahara provided everything nomadic families needed to survive. But when the damming of the Draa River changed life in the region, many families were forced to leave the desert behind and settle in M’Hamid, the closest town outside the dunes. For Bobo and his family, this brought an entirely new kind of hardship.

Like many nomadic children of his generation, Bobo never had the opportunity to attend school. Instead, his path was shaped by resilience, hard work, and a deep connection to his heritage.

“I stay connected to my birthplace and still get to meet and learn about different people and their customs.

I feel proud that people from around the world want to come to the Sahara and Morocco to experience our way of life. They come here to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, and our hospitality business is our way of sharing our traditions and giving them a true Saharan experience.”

From the Desert to Hospitality

At the age of 20, Bobo entered the hospitality industry and worked his way up through years of dedication and perseverance. After seven years of learning the business from the ground up, he founded Sahara Touring with a clear vision: to share the true spirit of the Sahara and Morocco through personal, authentic travel experiences.

More than a decade later, Sahara Touring has grown into a trusted name for private journeys across Morocco. In addition to leading Sahara Touring, Bobo is also co-founder of Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp, helping travellers experience the desert through comfort, care, and genuine local hospitality.
